Papa

The last week has been nonstop, memorable, sad and fun all at the same time - what a blur!!! We left here a week ago, last Thursday, after receiving word that Papa (Amy's grandfather) had passed away after a week of hospice care and several years with advanced Alzheimer's disease. The memorial service was on Saturday in Junction and was very special. There was not a seat in the church and the attendance was a true testament to the kind of person Papa was. People drove in from all over the state to be there on very short notice. We have such a great family and M&P have a wonderful church home and friends. Molly, Emily and I gave the eulogy...or the "eugoogley" (anyone seen Zoolander?) as we referred to it between us and in our heads in an attempt to "keep it together" in front of the 200+ people that were there. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do, but something I will remember for the rest of my life. I think Papa would have been proud... actually, I know he would have...to know what a huge difference he made in our lives. We spent the weekend being together (it really was great to be with John and Cheryl since we don't see them nearly enough...Carson especially enjoyed it), sharing memories and stories, playing the Wii, celebrating bdays - Carson, Henry and John's, eating, drinking, laughing, crying and remembering Papa. He was a truly, truly, truly (threw those in there for you Mom) wonderful and special man...we will miss him!

We really wanted to be there, but Mom said it was so special. How could it not be? Papa Jack was one of my very favorite people and always will be!
