First Day of Kindergarten!!!

Carson's first day of Kindergarten was August 24th. He was so excited. He had a new backpack and lunch box, picked out his outfit (lots of discussion about this...surprising since he is a boy...did not think he would care so much!), packed his lunch and snack, went to bed early the night before...and we still rushed that first morning! Kenny got up extra early and took Collier to school. After Collier's performance at "Meet the Teacher" (pretty sure he is already on some 'watch list' at the elementary school!), we decided Collier would not go to the first day of Kindergarten with us! I got Carson dressed and ready to go and we headed over to some friend's, the Urbines, for donuts and juice with lots of other friends...old and new. It was fun...the excitement was so much fun. We all walked to school together down the hike and bike trail in our neighborhood. The school was a zoo - total chaos...but again, so exciting! We made it to Carson's class, hung up his backpack and he was like "Bye Mom, Bye Dad...see ya later!". I was proud and a little bit sad at the same time. I was SO proud of myself that I did not break down and cry right then and there. I did have trouble walking out of his class...I just could not believe that I was actually leaving him in Kindergarten! All the parents then headed to the cafeteria for a "Tears and Cheers Breakfast", hosted by the PTA. It was fun to be with all the other parents, all experiencing the same emotions...some for the first time and others, for the second or third.
Kenny then headed into work for a few hours and I went over to a friend's house that was hosting a "Toast to Kindergarten"...she had a huge spread with lots of yummy food and champagne! Again, super fun to be with other Moms that were all feeling and thinking about the same things. Kenny came home in time to go with me to pick Carson up at 3. As expected, he had a GREAT first day and decided that Kindergarten was lots of fun. I think it is going to be a great year...full of fun memories and lots of learning...for all of us! :)
